What is a Federal Nomination Election?

A:

In a federal election, residents in each electoral riding in Canada choose from a list of candidates that represent a specific party. These candidates are selected through a nomination process many months before the actual federal election.

For the electoral riding of Mississauga-Erin Mills, the nomination election to choose the Liberal candidate has yet to be called by the Federal Liberal Party. When it is called, only registered members of the Federal Liberal Party that live in the riding are eligible to vote for their preferred candidate.
